we celebrated my mom's birthday this past sunday. she is the most beautiful, giving, selfless, forgiving mom/friend in the world. i am very fortunate to have her in my life <3

3 things for today:

1. as i was getting onto 59, i saw two deer on the side of the road! thank goodness they decided not to cross, b/c it was a busy entrance onto the freeway. poor things :( i know people say they are overpopulated, but i still think getting hit by a car is a sad way to die. later today, i saw a dead deer on the side of a road :(

2. i know i've blogged about this before, but i find it interesting to read other people's license plates. one of them, HBTAT, clearly standing for "habitat" has come to my attention many times! ironically, on my drive to work. i think i've seen it 4 times in the last year or so, and saw it again today. makes me really curious who the driver is. isn't it weird that you could be driving side by side with the same people every day w/o even knowing it?!?!

3. our school does a fundraising event every year where the staff becomes a "celebrity server" at the local Big Boy. tips and a good portion of the restaurant's earnings for the day go directly to our school. this evening, i really enjoyed being a "server" for a couple hours and visiting with former and current students/families. even tho i was tired, it was a fun evening :) i even saw a former student from my first year of teaching, who told me all about an upcoming trip to italy/greece. how wonderful!!!~
